2023-24 Week Five Results

In an exhilarating game of wheelchair hockey, the undefeated Chargers faced off against the Thunderbirds, who were hungry for their first win of the season. The first period showcased a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading goals. Kevin Konfara, Zeljko Sreckovic, and Katie Frayer scored for the Chargers, while Tristan Parent emerged as a scoring force for the Thunderbirds, netting five goals, including a shorthanded tally in the final 13 seconds.

The second period continued the intense scoring exchange, with Kevin Konfara leading the charge for the Chargers with four goals, and Zeljko Sreckovic adding one on the powerplay. The Thunderbirds responded with three goals, courtesy of Tristan Parent and Marty Witberg. As the teams entered the third period with a slim one-goal margin, the game remained highly competitive.

The final period saw both teams finding the net multiple times, but the Thunderbirds gained momentum with Tristan Parent scoring two more goals and Marty Witberg adding another, securing three unanswered goals. The game's outcome was sealed when Kevin Konfara received a critical untimely 5-minute major penalty in the closing moments. The Thunderbirds capitalized on the powerplay, with Mary Stack, Alex Ernsberger, and Andrew Calvin each scoring. The Thunderbirds emerged triumphant with a final score of 17-12, bringing an end to the Chargers' undefeated streak and ensuring that, for the first time in two years, no team would finish the season without a loss.

The next game sees the Thunderbirds battling the Knights on December 2nd as we approach the midseason mark. #ANewEra
