2024-25 Finals - Game One Results
The top-seeded Chargers edged out the No. 2 Knights in a thrilling, high-scoring Game One of the Jason Drapinski Memorial Cup Finals, securing an 11-9 victory and taking a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three elimination series.
The game opened with the Chargers setting the tone early, as Kevin Konfara notched the first of his eight goals on the night. The Knights responded with two goals from Zeljko Sreckovic, but Konfara’s hat trick in the first period gave the Chargers a 4-2 edge.
The second period turned into a shootout, with the Knights charging back thanks to excellent playmaking by Marty Witberg, who was involved in four of their five goals during the frame. Sreckovic added two more goals to his tally, while Jonathan Bowie and Witberg also found the back of the net. The Knights dominated the period until the Chargers called a timeout with the score tied. Following the regroup, Konfara continued his offensive onslaught and regaining the lead late in the period.
The third period saw both teams trading goals, with Trei Cools and Witberg scoring for the Knights, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Konfara’s relentless pressure—he scored three more goals to seal the deal for the Chargers.
Despite the loss, Sreckovic earned Second Star honors with an impressive four-goal performance, and Witberg contributed to six of the Knights’ nine goals.
