2024-25 Week Nine Results

In a thrilling start to 2025, the Chargers (4-1-0) bested the Knights (1-4-0) in a high-energy matchup that ended 7-5. The game marked the return of Anthony Theuer, subbing in for Kevin Konfara, and he made an immediate impact in a performance that will be remembered. The Chargers’ offensive firepower clashed with the Knights’ determined grit, setting the stage for a fast-paced, back-and-forth showdown. Both teams showcased stellar individual efforts, with defense, goaltending, and clutch scoring stealing the spotlight.

The scoring opened with Theuer netting the first goal for the Chargers, setting the tone for his return. Marty Witberg responded quickly for the Knights before Brent Severance, assisted by Theuer, restored the Chargers' lead to close the first period. Theuer struck again in the second, extending the Chargers’ advantage, but the Knights refused to go quietly. Jonathan Bowie capitalized on a precision play from Zeljko Sreckovic and Witberg, bringing the Knights within one heading into the final frame.

The third period was a whirlwind of action. Witberg’s equalizer gave the Knights hope, but Severance, with Theuer’s help, reclaimed the lead for the Chargers. Witberg’s third of the game tied it once more before Theuer exploded with three goals in the final minutes, including two in a span of 15 seconds, to secure the win. Kenny Haran’s defensive heroics, including 10 crucial blocks, earned him first-star honors, while Ron Woodring’s 34-save debut in net for the Knights and Dean Olivas’ 39-save effort for the Chargers rounded out a night of standout performances.

The Knights will look to right the ship this Saturday vs the Thunderbirds. With a Thunderbirds loss, the Chargers will officially claim first place for the season.
