2024-25 Week Three Results

The Thunderbirds improved to 2-0 on the season with a commanding 7-3 win over the Chargers, who were missing several key players but still put up a strong fight. The Thunderbirds came out strong in the first period, with Tristan Parent opening the scoring and Jeff Fleshner adding two quick goals to give the team a 3-0 lead. Fleshner completed his hat trick before the end of the period, putting the Chargers in an early hole.

In the second period, the Chargers responded, with Dean Olivas finding the back of the net to cut the deficit. Drew Canada, scoring his first goal in two years, brought the Chargers even closer at 4-2, giving them some hope. However, Fleshner added his fourth goal of the game, and Mary Stack, assisted by Parent and Kevin Richter, extended the Thunderbirds' lead to 6-2. Richter’s assist was his first point in 10 years, a memorable moment early this season.

The third period saw Richter score his first goal since the 2013-14 season, assisted by Parent, to make it 7-2. The Chargers managed to get one more on the board when Anthony Nowak scored from a pass by Alex Karazon and Brent Severance, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Kevin Richter’s memorable game earned him the first star of the game, followed by Fleshner and Canada.

These two teams will square off again next week with the Thunderbirds hosting as the home team.
